Causes of beriberi

If you have examined your pet and are sure that beriberi is not due to worms, gastrointestinal disease, overheating / hypothermia, antibiotic treatment, pregnancy or breastfeeding, the reason lies in the lack of nutrients in the food you offer your pet.

How to understand which vitamin is missing from a pet?

It is necessary to determine which components a cat or dog needs. There are sets of symptoms that indicate a deficiency of a particular substance:

• Vitamin A. Dryness of the mucous membranes of the mouth and eyes, impaired vision, growth retardation, dermatological problems, weight loss due to refusal to eat. Adding liver, fish oil and eggs to the menu will help to fill the retinol deficiency.
• Vitamin B1. Anemia, weakness, indigestion, cramps, shedding, weight loss. Soy, yeast and bone meal will handle the problem.
• Vitamins B2 and B5. Apathy, complete refusal to eat, diarrhea, slow pulse, profuse salivation, hair loss. May cause paralysis. To prevent this, give your pet raw meat, beef liver, soy and fatty cheese.
• Vitamin B6. Lethargy, anemia, growth retardation, convulsions. Ancillary products - fish, soybeans, beans.
• Vitamin B12. A rare phenomenon that causes anemia, eczema, disorders of the gastrointestinal tract. Treat your pet with egg yolks, beef liver, cheese.
• Vitamin C. Inflamed and bleeding gums, tooth loss, weakness, metabolic disorders. Add to the diet of cats or dogs potatoes, carrots, liver, pork kidneys.
• Vitamin D. It is more common in cats, because they do not go outside, and an important condition for the production of the component - sunlight. Diarrhea begins, joints increase, bone development is disturbed, convulsions are disturbed. Add bone meal to your meal. But this will only partially fill the vitamin deficiency. Need walks in the fresh air.
• Vitamin E. Deficiency of the substance can provoke paralysis. It is filled with meat and sunflower oil.

When choosing animal feed, make sure that the product contains all the relevant ingredients. Sprouted wheatgrass and wheat will be useful for cats and dogs. If you feed the animal dry food, it is better to inject vitamins.
