Preparation for ultrasound
Ultrasound (US) is one of the most common and affordable methods of objective imaging of internal organs in modern veterinary medicine. Before the ultrasound, it is necessary to properly prepare the animal - it will improve the quality and effectiveness of diagnosis.
1. Ultrasound during pregnancy:
Effectiveness in the early stages is quite low, so it is recommended to perform ultrasound no earlier than half of the pregnancy.
2. Ultrasound of the prostate, bladder - for the diagnosis of these organs is a prerequisite for a full bladder!
3. Ultrasound of the abdominal cavity is very informative and a priority in the algorithm of diagnostic measures.
Preparation for abdominal ultrasound:
- remove excess gases by oral administration of the following drugs (table)
- take 24-48 hours before the examination
- it is important that the bladder is full, as an empty bladder is poorly visualized.
Immediately before the ultrasound examination, the doctor will remove the hair by shaving, because the sensor will not scan through the hair.
!!! In the range of waves used in ultrasound diagnostics, ultrasound does not adversely affect living organisms.
