Some cat owners have no idea how unusual their pets are. We encourage you to read this article and check how well you know your pet.

Mustache, paws, tail

Sometimes nice and kind, and sometimes unapproachable and aggressive, but so beloved. Cats do not leave anyone indifferent, even those who considered themselves a convinced doglovers. These animals are special, and some features of their behavior are explained by the structure of the body:

  • Cats masterfully climb the tallest trees. However, then out of helplessness they beg to remove them. There is an explanation for this: the structure of the claws allows movement only in one direction - up. The claws are bent so that the animal has support when lifting, but they are not strong enough to hold the cat during the descent. That is, a cat can only go backwards or forwards with the help of a human.
  • Down jackets are right-handed and left-handed, which usually depends on gender. Cats mostly dig with the left paw, cats - with the right.
  • The claws on the front paws are sharper than those on the hind legs, but it is better not to check this fact for yourself.
  • The tail helps to balance and turn sharply. About 10% of all animal bones are concentrated in this part of the body.
  • A healthy cat has 12 pairs of vibrissae, which we simply call mustaches. These are extremely sensitive hairs, which the cat, like an antenna, captures the slightest vibration. All due to the fact that the root of the mustache is surrounded by a large number of nerve endings and muscle fibers. Vibrissae are needed not only for hunting. With them, the cat determines whether there is enough space in space for him to pass.

Most of these facts can be verified by watching your pet.

"Superpowers" and limitations

Cats' ears have a complex structure. The outer ear of the animal is controlled by 32 muscles (in the case of humans - only six). Due to this, the cat can turn its ears 180 degrees, and its hearing is 5 times sharper than a human.

Cats do not have rigid collarbones, which in combination with a flexible spine makes them accessible to almost any hole the size of a cat's head. But this does not apply to overweight animals.

The cat's jaws move only vertically. This is why you need to grind your pet's food, because it is difficult for him to cope with large pieces. Maybe now you will look at your pet in a new way, knowing what a special beast lives in your home.
