Otoscopy
Enhanced ability to diagnose ear diseases
It’s very difficult to look inside an animal’s ear canal to assess the state of its eardrum. This is because the external auditory canal is L-shaped. The usual otoscopes used by the vet clinics in Kiev, too short - do not allow to examine the eardrum.
Endoscopic techniques make it as easy as possible to study the ears of our patients. With their help, Animal Clinic veterinarians clearly see the condition of both the external auditory canal and the eardrum, testing them for pathological changes.
What illnesses do you get when you have otoscopy?
Dogs with long ears, such as basset hound and shi-tsu, are prone to chronic otitis, and may develop:
- Infectious diseases in the external auditory canals.
- Inflammation of the middle ear and drum cavity.
- Eardrum perforation.
The common cause of the inflammation is rough wool growing in the ear canal. Having determined the localization and the type of disease, our specialist will prescribe a treatment that will contribute to the rapid recovery of your pet.
