New Year's Eve
Every caring owner would like his cat to be always comfortable. This problem is especially acute with the beginning of the heating season. Cats are also cold, so some owners calmly and tenderly watch their tailed pets warming on the radiator. However, have you ever wondered that it is of little use?
Why is resting on a radiator dangerous for a cat?
Cats perceive the touch to the heat source differently than humans. Cat's skin can be in contact with a hot battery or heater for a long time, and the animal will feel normal for a while. However, the result of this method of warming can be unpleasant:- Overheating of internal organs. The heavier and bigger the pet, the more it is prone to overheating. Most of all, heat stroke threatens overweight cats, cats with heart and vascular diseases, respiratory disorders; pregnant cats.
- Increased shedding due to dry skin. In bald cats and those with short hair, the deterioration of the skin provokes itching and discomfort.
How to minimize the impact of heat on the cat?
An adult cat is more difficult to get rid of the habit of climbing on the radiator. But you can try to minimize the negative impact of the heat source on the cat's body:- Always keep a thick blanket on the radiator.
- Install a protective cover on the radiator. Cover it with a sheet or other soft textile.
- Arrange a sleeping place for the cat next to the battery. It can be a comfortable loose couch, a whole house or a hammock suspended near the battery.
